Nate gets with Karen, who places the ad for Nate, but also likes it so much that she responds to it herself. I would have possibly even brought back Nate in the current timeline with Karen, as a married couple, to add that dynamic in the mix. It never panned out though, and Nate and the "other girl" was a mystery, until now that is.
